We appreciate your interest in joining the Arkansas Shock Network (ARSN).

COLLABORATION

ARSN is a network of physicians and hospitals throughout Arkansas who agree to unite on a protocol for escalation of care in cardiogenic shock. This collaborative approach has yielded improved survivability in several studies nationwide, and our goal is to bring these benefits to our state.

Participants will share data for cardiogenic shock, and we will track the outcomes vs. our previous individual and collective experience. We will keep a central data repository to learn from and report on our outcomes and trends. Periodic virtual meetings will review what we are learning, discuss cases and seek improvement in all aspects of care.

Members will also collaborate on an annual symposium, attracting nationally recognized leaders to discuss topicsof interest and provide further education for member staff.

INDEPENDENCE

ARSN is a professional collaboration, not a legal entity. Membership is open, and leadership is shared. Members retain their independence.

The initiative was founded by cardiology groups and hospitals that were not in direct competition with one another. Membership is now open to all cardiology groups and hospitals in the state of Arkansas. Members will continue to perform and bill for their full spectrum of desired services and affirm their unique positions in their respective markets.

AVAILABILITY OF SERVICES

Regarding mechanical circulatory support (MCS), all members are currently able to respond with MCS-Impella in cardiogenic shock, but not all can escalate further by cannulating MCS-ECMO. The majority of cases will be managed to conclusion at the site of origin, but some will, by necessity, require transfer for escalation of care. One ASN participant is an advanced therapy center with mobile ECMO transport and a dedicated ICU and staff for managing ECMO. Together, ASN participants offer the full spectrum of options available. Durable therapeutic options will be available to any appropriate candidates who fail to wean MCS. In cases where transfer is involved, the entity who discharged the patient will provide the data.
